Philly Vacation – Part 3

While in Philly my wife had the excellent idea to visit the Eastern State Penitentiary.  I’m not sure if we just happened to hit it at the right time, but we stumbled upon some fantastic light.  Eastern State was actually the first penitentiary in the world and was used as a model for over 300 others.  The whole idea behind penitentiaries was to inspire penitence or regret in it’s convicts.  Based on the design of these cell blocks I imagine they could only have succeeded.

    • Thanks. I wasn’t expecting there to be so many good photo ops before we went there, so I didn’t have a tripod with me. I lucked out because there is a railing on the top floor of that wing so I was able to rest the camera on that.
