Weekly Photos – From the Basket

Continuing with more photos from our hot air balloon festival excursion.

As I was saying the previous post, the Liberty Flights crew was great for pulling photographers closer and point out great locations for shots.  After the balloon is filled with air and heated to get the balloon upright, the air inside is very turbulent and needs a few minutes for the temperature to even out.  During this time the crew will all hold the balloon down to make sure it doesn’t lift off while the pilot burns flame.

This shot was taken in between blasts with my camera either touching the basket or no more than an inch or two away.  If you look closely, you can see that the balloon isn’t taut yet and some sections almost look wiggly.  This movement is caused by the air temperature evening out.
