Learning Photography

Since I’m sure most of your are here to learn, I thought I would make it as easy as possible to find the topics you want to learn about. The future topics are un-ordered and the list is likely incomplete. I will be adding to this list over time as I think of additional topics. I also hope to get questions and requests from my readers so I can cover everything you want to know.

Covered Topics

Future Topics – No Particular Order

  • On Camera Flash
  • Autofocus
  • Filters
  • Photo Projects
  • Depth of Field – in Depth
  • Creating and using water marks
  • Photoshop – Basic Post Processing
  • Marketing your Photography

  2. I would love to see a post on selling your photography for fine art – how to set up a website. I saw that you put a link to your smugmug account and checked it out. I would like to do something like this but not sure how to market (although putting a link to the photos on my blog seems like an obvious choice like you did) and how you market your portfolio.

    • I can definitely add this to the list, but it will have to be a ways down the road. I only recently started trying to sell my photos, so am very much a novice when it comes to marketing.

Since, it will be a while since I can post informatively on this I’ll just list out some of what I’ve done so far. I’ve set up a petersouthlandphotography blog, Facebook page, and Instagram. I’ve been trying to make sure I post on the blog and Instagram 2-3 times a week. Facebook for the moment has just been linking posts, but I plan on posting some more original content there eventually. I’ve also signed up to be a volunteer photographer at a few local events, I’m hoping to use this and get my name out to folks that are less interested in social media.
