BVI – 5

Paddle boarding was something that I really wanted to try, especially since I had a GoPro with chest mount.

For those of you who haven’t tried to shoot with a GoPro before, it’s a very different experience compared to a traditional camera.  There’s no viewfinder or back screen so you can’t see what any of your shots look like.  You have to get used to the field of view, so you can anticipate what your photos will look like.  For the shot below, I tried several different angles to make sure I got something good.

BVI – 1

After our relatively short stay in Puerto Rico we continued onto the main part of our vacation, a family reunion at Bitter End Yacht Club in the British Virgin Island.

Unfortunately our flight was delayed so we had to catch a very late ferry to the resort out of Trellis Bay.  Fortunately the ferry landing was just a short walk down the beach to an art exhibit, where I was able to get the photo below.  I’ve been looking online but haven’t been able to find an artist name, so if anyone finds out please let me know so I can add it to this post.

Bristol – 1

Quick side note for some folks.  Apparently my most recent photos are showing up with some wonky looking colors.  This is due to the color space that lightroom/photoshop was assigning photos on my new laptop.  This should be all sorted out now, but let me know if the color still looks off.

Anyways, my mother-in-law is quite the foodie, so for her birthday this year we went to Bristol RI to try out the Persimmon Restaurant.  While wandering around Bristol before dinner, I was able to get the shot below, showing a brick path to the harbor during sunset.

Acadia – Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse

My wife and I spent last Thursday to Sunday up in Acadia National Park.  She’s in the midst of switching jobs so the week in-between presented us with a nice excuse for a short vacation.  We stayed at the Clark Point Inn Bed and Breakfast in Southwest Harbor, which we partially picked for the food.  Seriously though, if you like food and find yourself in Acadia, you should stay there.

Anyways, Acadia is about a five and a half hour drive for us, so Thursday night we didn’t get a chance to do to much on the island.  However our B&B was about a five minute drive from the Bass Harbor Head Light, which is where I was able to get the shot below.
